Shiro Cosmetics Review pt 1: Eyeshadows

HELLOOOO

It's been a long time, but I'm going to start doing reviews again after getting a few requests from my friends to stop sitting on my lazy ass and start actually doing something of use.

This review will be on the loose eyeshadow pigments made my Shiro Cosmetics. The shadows in this review are from the Tributes, Super Effective, Legends, and Fullmetal collections.

I was not paid to do this review and I purchased every sample with my own money.

The Legends Collection

This collection was inspired by the "Legend of Zelda" franchise, and each product name is a reference to the game in some way.

Zelda (re-named Princess)

Store Description:

I'm not really sure why the series is named after Zelda when it's Link that does all the cool stuff, but that's okay. At least she's way cooler than Princess Peach, right?

Soft salmon-y pink with bright golden sparks. Lip-safe!

My thoughts: This comes out as a really nice, delicate orange creamsicle color. It's fairly opaque. In real life, the color is somewhere in between the two photos provided.

Shield-Eater

Store Description:

OM NOM NOM NOM NOM

Shimmery, buttery yellow with a blue duochrome. Lip-safe!

My thoughts: this color is fairly sheer, and I don't really see the blue duochrome. When applied the color is a bit closer to the photo without flash.

Master Sword

Store Description:

All your hearts are required to unlock the full potential of the Master Sword. Proof positive that QQ is, indeed, inversely proportional to PEW PEW.

Super-glittery pale taupe - a blend of silver and gold, with bright silver sparks. Lip-safe!

My thoughts: THIS IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL COLOR OH MY GOD. I couldn't get the gorgeous sparkles in the photo, but trust me, they are there. The color shifts between silver and gold while retaining a light taupe base color. On top of that it is extremely sparkly. I plan on buying a full size of this, I use it a lot, it applies well, and the color is absolutely beautiful. In real life the color is closer to the photo with flash.

Majora's Mask

Store Description:

This mask was magically sealed away because the power contained within it was enough to destroy the world. Personally, I see no problem here.

Super-bright purple with orange shimmer and tons of red, green, and yellow sparks. Not lip-safe!

My thoughts: This color is significantly more purple in real life, and has a lot of somewhat larger sparkles in it. This is a hugely gorgeous color and is suuuuperr purple. Neither of the photos truly show what this color looks like when worn, but the color is closer to the photo with flash and the in bag photo. I have one big problem. This color is suuuuperrr clumpy and feels almost oily or greasy, making it hard to apply evenly or sheerly.

Din's Fire

Store Description:

It's not quite nuking from orbit, but it'll do in a pinch.

Delicate cool-toned purple-pink with bright red sparks. Lip-safe!

My thoughts: This is another absolutely gorgeous color. It somehow reminds me of the Greek goddess Aphrodite. It has a beautiful gold sheen in real life and lots of sparkle. The color is closer to the photo without flash.

Twilight Realm

Store Description:

"See you later..."

Shimmery medium gray packed with bold aqua sparks. Lip-safe!

My thoughts: No photo could accurately capture this color. The aqua color is striking and beautiful in contrast to it's grey base. It looks like a night sky with twinkling blue stars. It is quite glitter-heavy. I'm not sure what I will use this color for, but it is truly gorgeous.

The Fullmetal Collection

This collection was inspired by the anime and manga series "Fullmetal Alchemist." Each color references the series in some way.

Little Brother

Store Description:

Alphonse's top priorities in life:

Strongly metallic mid-toned silver. Lip-safe!

My thoughts: This color is very reminiscent of pewter armor (much like Al's). It is a very metallic color with no glitter. In real life, the color lies somewhere in between the flash and non flash photos.

Equivalent Exchange

Dark, slightly grey blue-toned purple with a sprinkling of brighter purple sparks. Lip-safe!

My thoughts: This is another one of those colors where none of my photos accurately portray what it looks like. In my opinion, it's a lovely grey with a beautiful burgundy sheen and tones of red microglitter. It's very smoky, very red, super sparkly, and generally gorgeous. 

For Generations

Store Description:

THE SECRETS OF CREATING THIS AMAZING COLOR HAVE BEEN PASSED DOWN THE SHIRO LINE FOR GENERATIONS!! *FLEX* *SPARKLE* *FLEX*

The most obnoxious possible shade of piggy-pink, decorated with gold and blue sparkles. Not lip-safe.

My thoughts: This is a suuuuuperrrr pink pink. It's not too pastel, or too hot, it is simply pink. I love the sparkles in this one as well, they add a very girly pop. The crazy opacity of this color is also a huge plus. In real life it is somewhere in between the flash and no flash photos. It unfortunately has a very clumpy, almost greasy consistency.

Colonel

Store Description:

Ever ambitious and occasionally vengeful, yet good hearted despite his stated intentions involving mini-skirts. Also sets everything and anything on fire with a snap of his fingers (unless it's raining), and that's just awesome.

Military blue packed with gold sparkle. Not lip-safe.

My thoughts: I did not buy this color (it was one of the 2 free samples) but holy omg it is superrrr pretty. These photos don't quite catch the insane sparkliness that is this eyeshadow. Seriously I could cry over how gorgeously sparkly it is. The blue is very similar to the color of Col. Mustangs uniform, it is a fairly dark navy. It's paired with gold and bronze sparkles to give it a fiery kick. This is the most accurate portrayal of a reference from all of the colors I have (at least in my opinion). The sparkles in real life are closer to the photo with flash, whereas the actual navy color is closer to the photo without flash. The only problem with this color is that it has a clumpy, almost greasy consistency like some of the other colors I purchased.

Alkahestry

Store Description:

The Xingese equivalent of alchemy, useful for healing and long-distance transmutations. Also great for annoying those pesky homunculi! Panda/cat not included.

Sheer-ish pale violet with a brilliant blue-sparkle base. Lip-safe!

My thoughts: This is one of my favorite colors from this haul. It is super sheer, suuuuuuperr sparkly, and absolutely gorgeous. It reminds me of fairies and flowers, it's just so pretty. The color is closer to the photo with flash in real life.

The Super Effective Collection

This collection was inspired by the Pokémon franchise.

Smell Ya Later

Store Description:

Pale, shimmery lavender. Lip-safe!

My thoughts: This is a really interesting metallic color (there is not much if any glitter). It shifts from silver to purple (ask you can see in the extra photo provided). My only problem with this color is that it clumps together, it's almost greasy in consistency which makes it impossible to apply sheer/evenly.

Evolve

Store Description:

The most excellent evolution in all of Pokemon. Best not be hatin' on Magikarp's Splash, because when he grows up he will murder you all.

Vivid opaque blue over a shimmery white base.

My thoughts: I love how bright this blue is, the white sparkles are a great touch. The consistency of this color is a bit odd but I like it regardless. The color is somewhere in between the flash and no flash photos in real life.

Ditto

Store Description:

Whenever my elementary school friend would claim that Digimon would win against Pokemon, I'd just tell him "Nuh-uh! Ditto can turn into any Digimon ever so Pokemon are like Pokemon and Digimon COMBINED! That means Pokemon are better!" And I was right.

Medium soft pink with a velvet finish. Lip-safe!

My thoughts: This color is slightly lighter than "For Generations" and lacks sparkles (it's metallic). It has a bit of the clumping problem I've talked about in previous colors. It's color is in between the flash and no flash photos in real life.

The Tributes Collection

This collection was inspired by the movie and book series "The Hunger Games."

Cornucopia

Store Description:

"Sixty seconds. That's how long we're required to stand on our metal circles before the sound of a gong releases us. Sixty seconds to take in the ring of tributes all equidistant from the Cornucopia, a giant golden horn shaped like a cone with a curved tail, the mouth of which is at least twenty feet high, spilling over with the things that will give us life here in the arena."

Bright, bold yellow with strong golden shimmer. Lip-safe!

My thoughts: This is a really gorgeous yellow-gold color with little sparkles. it reminds me a lot of Sugarpill's Goldilux, it's just more yellow. It has a bit of a bronze sheen that is more evident when Pixie Epoxy is used. It's color is closer to the photo using flash.

Final Thoughts

With the exception of the oddly textured colors, these shadows are extremely good for the low price. They are well worth the purchase. The general nerdiness is also a huge plus for me. I will definitely be buying more from Shiro, their price and quality are hugely worth it.
